人在 Hamlet 眼里既近乎天神，也只是一撮尘土
Hamlet 能完整说出人的理智、能力与形体何等出色，结论却落在 “quintessence of dust”。这不是一般的人性定义。前面已经说明，他失去了快乐，也停止了往日的活动。
高贵的理智！无穷的能力！体态端庄！举止出色！行动有如天使！颖悟宛若天神！世界的娇花！万类的灵长！然而，对我来说，这一撮泥土的精华又算什么？人已不能使我怦然心动，不！就是女人也不能！尽管你们脸上掠过一丝笑影，仿佛说我还情有所钟。
I will tell you why; so shall my anticipation prevent your discovery, and your secrecy to the king and queen moult no feather. I have of late — but wherefore I know not — lost all my mirth, forgone all custom of exercise; and indeed it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory, this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire, why, it appears no other thing to me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours. What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty, in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god! The beauty of the world, the paragon of animals — and yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me — no, nor woman neither, though by your smiling you seem to say so.

演化的成功不是个体的幸福 是同一种双重视角的现代版本：按总数算极其成功的物种，里面的个体可能过得极差。 自然为整体优化，不为你 里我记过那一步滑动，从"整体确实这样"跳到"所以该这样"。
穿越回去，你更可能是万骨里的一根 是这条最实用的用法：评价任何一个系统时，把"平均"或"代表"换成"随机的一个"，判断立刻就变了。
