有些职业按投入的时间提供服务,收入受可工作时数限制。另一些职业把作品、代码或资本重复分发,新增一位读者或用户时,几乎不再增加同等劳动。
A second-year Wharton student told me to get a profession that is “scalable,” that is, one in which you are not paid by the hour and thus subject to the limitations of the amount of your labor.
In these professions, no matter how highly paid, your income is subject to gravity. Your revenue depends on your continuous efforts more than on the quality of your decisions.
A scalable profession is good only if you are successful; they are more competitive, produce monstrous inequalities, and are far more random, with huge disparities between efforts and rewards.
线性收入工作 vs 非线性收入工作。前者收入和个人劳动投入时间息息相关,不论收入单位高低,想要赚得多,就得多劳动。
