Luba Luft 让 Deckard 发现 retire 可能就是杀人

Deckard 以前可以把任务对象叫作 android，把杀死它们叫作 retire。Luba Luft 会唱歌，会欣赏蒙克，也在为社会做事。她没有符合那套方便猎杀的空壳形象，于是职业术语第一次遮不住那个动作：他可能正在“kill”一个人。

他替 Luba 买下蒙克的《青春期》，像是在满足一个将死之人的最后愿望。她死后，他烧掉那幅画，随即想退出。这段转折没有解决仿生人究竟算不算人，只让原先稳定的工作失去了正当性。冷漠比仇恨杀死更多人 写过流程怎样让参与者只看手上的工作；Luba 让被流程藏起来的对象重新出现了。

我当时还没有把触发 Deckard 的原因收成一种解释。歌剧《魔笛》、Luba 的声音、外表，以及她对社会的贡献，都可能在里面。这个未定状态比事后挑出一个答案更接近当时的阅读。

In what ways is Luba Luft different from other androids? - Luba luft was smart. She tried very hard to mimic human reactions. She ingeniously used her difficulty to master English vocabulary as pretense to digress from questions in the Voight-Kampf test (and she made it!) so as to avoid revealing her true reactions. She did not intend to kill Rick and ended her career here but rather, through elaborate collusion with other androids, she managed to trick Rick into another death trap. Why do you think Deckard buys the Munch painting called Puberty for Luba? - It was almost like a last wish for a dying person. Humans have the empathy to accommodate dying peoples’ last request. Why do you think he burns it after she’s dead, and then says he wants to quit (119)? - Deckard developed special feelings to this female androids. Something that he had never experienced before when retiring other androids. It might have something to do with his beloved musical Magic Flute, her voice, her physical appearance or the fact the female android was actually contributing to the society. The subtle realization that he might“kill” a person made him want to quit.

起作用的是那个词。 retire 让每一次执行都读起来像让机器停止服务，而不是让谁死。Deckard 直到面对一个在唱歌的对象，才发现这个词一直在替他省掉一个判断。
